Click here for a complete list of sponsors and partners Other projects developed by Turner include: Jack Turner is also the founder and host of the International Pro Photographer Showdown and the film events at the World Ski and Snowboard Festival in Whistler, BC. The event has been called the “Sundance Film Festival of action sports photography ” and is in its 10th year. He is a guest lecturer for the National Ski Areas Association, Canadian Ski Industries, The World Ski & Snowboard Festival, and ski resorts across North America. His company, SIRDAR, produced promotional music CDs for major record labels including Warner Bros. Records, Universal Records, Virgin Records America, and Capitol Records. Turner is a former member of the United States Ski Team (1976-77) competing in nordic combined (jumping and cross-country skiing). Later he was a coach and served as the Nordic Competition Director of the U.S. Ski Association. Turner was ABC Television’s expert commentator for cross-country skiing at the 1984 Olympic Winter Games in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. He produced more than 20 World Cup races and international events for Park City, Utah beginning in 1985. Jack Turner was the founder and executive director of the Utah Winter Games and served on the Salt Lake Olympic Committee until 1989. He was the vice president of marketing at the Durango Mountain Ski Resort (Durango, CO) from 1989-93 and served the same position at the Bear Mountain Ski Resort (Big Bear Lake, CA) from 1993-95. Jack is the author of the award winning book, “Early Images of the Southwest,” and has been a contributing writer to TransWorld SNOWboarding magazine, Snowboarding Business, Ski Area Management, Canadian Airlines magazine, Ski Trade News, and other publications. He has led adventure expeditions to Iran, China, and other “exotic” locations.
