NextSnow SearchSports Illustrated Kids NextSnow Search on NBC Sports (2004-07) |
Recognized as one of the most innovative programs to promote snowsports, the NextSnow Search was a nationwide series of more than 80 competitions each season to find the best all-round skiers and snowboarders, boys and girls, age 13 and younger. All participants competed in multiple events that included SuperPipe, SlopeStyle, Carving, Bumps, Race, and Big Air Jump Competitions. Athletes competed in every event and are judged on style and sportsmanship as well as their ski/snowboard skill.
The finals were nationally broadcast each season on NBC Sports providing a preview of future Olympic and X Games athletes. NextSnow Search athletes that have gone on to compete in the Winter X Games or other international events include: Duncan Adams, Walter Woods, JJ Tomlinson, Alex Schlopy, Gus Kenworthy, Sean Petit, Torin Yater-Wallace, Joss Christenson, Chris Laker, Kyle Smaine, Byron Wells, Tucker Perkins, Jamie Anderson, and Faye Gulini.
